Can I travel to Ibiza, Spain with a military ID card and a leave form?
BUD asked:
I am wanting to take a last minute trip to Ibiza, Spain and I don’t have a passport. I am currently stationed overseas and have been told from several friends that all I need is a Leave form and military ID to travel around Europe. Every where I have looked tells me other wise….(Need passport!!!) Please help

In theory you can (it is part of a NATO agreement we have), but I wouldn’t go try going to Spain that way. I tried once and was turned back at the Spanish border. What is worse, a Venezuelan guy who was next to me in the train had his season train pass stolen by the Spanish border patrol.
Anyway, there are plenty of other great places to visit in Europe, a lot of them closer. My favorite spots to hit up included Amsterdam and Prague.

no. Passports are required now. Leave form is no longer acceptable.

Not if your flying. Before Sep 2001, when I was Germany years ago in the early 90s we could roll like that. Get a passport. A leave form is just piece of paper and your ID is for you to get access on a NATO base.
You can get an passport expedited by the post office or a private service, but it will cost you more. Tell your parents to send you your birth certificate pronto. So don’t hesitate and have fun, been there myself. Don’t drown in the foam parties!
