can we buy tickets at the airport for the same day for a flight which is about to leave in an hour or so?

yes is possible and sometimes is more cheaper…but sometimes too is not availability I found good prices for that but is necessary request in many airlines…I found that the best thing is when you make the purchase with one month in advance very cheap prices…. but is a trouble when you don´t have plans before…

you can if you get lukcy enough and catch a flight that is not booked other wise you will be put on a waiting list and if someone does not show up depending on where you are on the waiting list you might be the lucky one to get on. I would check the flight status before you leave. I have done it before though

I, too, have done last minute travel successfully. It’s usually expensive (y’know, “supply” and “demand” kick in).

Yes but you will pay the maximum fare in the US. In Europe they do have last minute deals
