Do you book holidays last minute and does it work out cheaper?
rosierose asked:
I did ask this on travel but no replies yet so thought perhaps a parent could help. I haven’t travelled abroad for many years and could use advice on getting a good deal. I’m based in UK and want to go to Crete in August. Family of 2 adults and 3 children(aged 10, 14 and 16). Price wise do you think I’m better waiting for a last minute or buying now? Are prices likely to go down?

It depends on the time of year. If it’s a vacation period, then you want to book ahead to ensure that you’ll even get a room! But if it’s for something on a normal day, especially on the weekdays, you might be able to book a good deal online. I would look up multiple travel engines and compare prices. A trick I did was say I had 2 people but then we sneaked in the rest of the crowd. If it’s a big hotel they are not going to know. It depends on whether they charge you extra for having more people.
To play it safe though, I would book now. You can still get great deals online these days AND have a room prepared.

it depends what time/date and how many restrictions you have, if you are completely flexible then youll be able to get a better deal but sometimes last minute is more expensive..
go to a travel agents and ask for the cheapest holiday
-give them your budget.. even if its really small and they think your crazy!
then theyll find you a cheap last minute holiday- i had a week hlfboard in greece last year for £130 ohh yeeah!!!
