My husband wants to fly out for the weekend, from Chicago, but even though I paid 129 round trip for the flight, he can’t find anything less than 350 now! The plan is to wait until the very last minute, and hope for the best! I’ve been on hotwire, farecast, orbitz, and everything else I’ve ever heard of, but still no good deals! Does anyone have any secret tips, like waiting until the day before or the day of, calling the airlines, an awesome travel agency, any tips at all?! We are getting desperate!

I’m trying to decide whether to rent a car at the airport for 4-5 days, or would it be totally inconvenient or more expensive to take public transport? Haven’t traveled often by plane or been car less in another city. Can’t figure out how much I’ll be spending either way. Any help??
